Folks…its offical. We are no longer in South America. Today we took a plane to Panama City where we will begin a new adventure on a new continent. You can read my personal farewell to South America HERE. Our last days in Ecuador was spent riding on top of a train that zigzagged through the Ecuadorian mountains before taking a bus to the largest city in Ecuador, Guayaquil. The train went over what was supposedly the most difficult stretch of railroad ever built. At a place called Devil´s nose the train tracks switchback several times down a rock face. It was pretty impressive. Another highlight of the train ride were the many children that would chase the train in hopes of receiving candy from gringos riding on top. The town of Alausi, where we spent the night, was a very tranquil small town enclosed inside the gorgeous Ecuadorian highlands. After that, it was off to the surprisingly nice big city of Guayaquil where we waited to take the plane. There were complications at the airport but that is another story for another day as we are all tired and ready for bed. Love to all!
