Hey people. We have finally got some pictures up from our first few days in Buenos Aires. We spent most of the time wandering around looking at things. We also met this cool guy named Uriel in the shopping area. He was handing out fliers for his job at a money exchange place. He taught us how to say padlock in Spanish and we taught him Check it out. We met the next night and he took us to dinner at a Chinese buffet. If we are ever in Buenos Aires again he wants to challenge us to basketball at his homecourt. So anyways check out the gallery page. Later.

First Impressions
So we´ve been here for about a day, and I´m still catching up on my sleep. The plane ride was long, but went much faster than I expected. But despite arriving in Buenos Aires at 10:30 a.m. local time, all I really wanted to do was go to bed. But traveling around the city I noticed two things right away.
The first: there are TONS of people here! Picture the mall the day after Thanksgiving and then multiply that by five and then you´re close to the number of active bodies floating around here. Add to the fact that it is humid as heck here and you get sweaty pretty fast. It´s pouring rain today so it´s a little cooler.
The other thing is this place is filthy. I´ve never been a fan of huge cities. Seattle is nice but this place dwarfs Seattle from all I´ve seen so far. The buildings are tall and the streets are narrow and tight. And the whole place is one big garbage can as people seem to dump their trash wherever they please. There are very few trash bins on the streets that I´ve noticed, and I haven´t had much time to look as I´ve been too busy dodging cars. Drivers just go here and will stop just moments away from bashing into your shins. And the pedestrians are pretty courageous as they will cross any part of the street any time they wish whether a vehicle is coming or not.
I´m sure this is an interesting town, but personally I can´t wait to get out of here into somewhere a little more open with less cigarettes. I feel much better then when I first got here. Lack of sleep and food along with the initial stage of homesickness made for an exciting but exhausting first day. A long night of sleep followed by food and shower does wonders for the disposition. It sounds like Jordan and I will be hopping on a bus and heading south to Las Grutas first. This is along the Atlantic coast line which will eventually lead to the Peninsula Valdes, which is known for its wildlife. I´m looking forward to that and maybe even seeing some penguins although they aren´t common this time of year.
Thinking of all of you.
